“York pour l’Europe” - An photo exhibition of York in Dijon in 2024
Monique Serna, photographer, and Vincenzo Cirillo, art director, were in York from 26th September to 4th October to take photos for this exhibition. Their time and flights were funded by Ombradipeter, a Dijon art organisation. York for Europe has been their partner organisation on the ground, organising a programme of photo shoots, accommodation and local airport transfers.
Monique and Vincenzo did not want Tourist York rather a mix of residents of York doing interesting things in interesting places - the side of everyday York which visitors rarely see.
Happily, a mix of residents of York were keen to join in - and a huge thank you to them!
- - the art curator at York university, Helena Cox
- - allotment holders, Ian and Susan Buchanan
- - the Black Horse pub on Monkgate
- - jeweller, Charmian Ottaway
- - the Friends of York Cemetery
- - the Tansy Beetle Project
- - the Barbarellas, a capella singing group
- - the wardrobe mistresses of York Theatre Royal
- - York Minster stone masons
- - the York Mayor and Mayoress
- - The New Notes sax quintet
York for Europe accompanied Monique and Vincenzo on all photo shoots as guide and interpreters. It was a great chance for us to spread the word about the campaign work of York for Europe.
THE EXHIBITION WILL BE IN DIJON: 2nd to 24th March in the 16th century Hôtel de Vogue, under the title “YORK POUR L’EUROPE”.
York for Europe will be there!
It then travels to the Italian consulate in Paris and towns in Italy. We hope to arrange with York Council for the exhibition to come to York - watch this space.
